Phil Hay quashes idea of Leeds move for 17-goal star as Bielsa targets two signings – report

|

Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay has quashed the idea of Leeds making a move for Queens Park Rangers forward Luke Freeman, after it was claimed the 27-year-old was a target of Marcelo Bielsa.

It has long been reported that there has been interest at Elland Road concerning a move for Freeman, but the initial feeling was that a deal would hinge on the boss guiding us to the Premier League.

His efforts ultimately fell short, but it was recently revealed that the Argentine was still keen to sign the Arsenal product, and would attempt to push through a deal in the coming weeks as Freeman was involved in 17 goals (nine scored, eight assisted) in the recent term across all competitions.

Hay, however, has poured cold on the claims, by replying to one United supporter on Twitter who had asked if there was any truth to the rumour.

The Yorkshire Evening Post reporter simply replied back saying that he could not see it coming to fruition, but did suggest signings are on the cards.

Namely, Manchester City-owned winger Jack Harrison, as the boss is keen to sign two wide players in the summer market, and would be open to the Stoke-on-Trent-born wide-man returning to West Yorkshire after he was involved in eight goals during his time with us.

On the other hand, it is unlikely Wolverhampton Wanderers Ivan Cavaleiro’s will be a target this summer, as he was deemed an expensive proposition when linked with us in January.
