Leeds United may have found their Daniel James alternative with versatile 25 y/o – report

Leeds United may have found their Daniel James alternative, as The Sun’s Mike McGrath is suggesting that Marcelo Bielsa is keen to complete a deal for Ivan Cavaleiro.

James had been Leeds’ long-term target, with multiple reports suggesting a move is imminent, but no deal has so far progressed beyond speculation.

The Mirror even reported on January 21 that the Elland Road outfit were prepared to walk away from any negotiations, should they come to fruition, if a deal did not suit their projected budget, as Swansea were looking to sell for no less than £5million.

Now, with no deal still on the cards for James, Mike McGrath of The Sun has tweeted that the Whites are looking to make a deal with Wolverhampton Wanderers for their 25-year-old winger Cavaleiro.

The tweet was sent on Friday afternoon, and offered no detail on whether the move would be on a permanent basis or a loan, but either way would make for a terrific addition at Leeds.

The versatile forward can play on either wing, and proved his worth in the Championship last season as Wolves dominated the division to clinch promotion – the two-cap Portugal international contributed with nine goals and 12 assists.

Cavaleiro, however, has struggled to forge a role for himself at Molineux since earning promotion, but Bielsa would be in dreamland with his capture.
