Some Leeds United fans have been lauding Helder Costa on social media for improving his performances by the game under Marcelo Bielsa.

Costa featured in Tuesday night’s 3-2 comeback win over Millwall for his 32nd outing with United in all competitions, having joined on a loan last summer in a deal that carries a Β£15million obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Bielsa was initially reluctant to award Costa a pivotal role in his plans at Elland Road following the move, with the boss not starting the one-time Portugal international in a Championship fixture until our 1-0 win at Charlton Athletic on September 28.

Does Costa need to find the net more often?

No

Costa would not score his maiden league goal with us until matchday 19, too, when he fired home our third against Middlesbrough in a 4-0 win that saw Leeds end November atop the Championship table.

Further strikes came against Cardiff City on December 14 and away to Birmingham on December 29, though Costa is yet to live up to his future transfer fee in the eyes of the entire fanbase.

But some of those have been willing to laud the 26-year-old on social media after Tuesday night’s win, after Costa showed his ever-increasing performances by completing (four) and attempting more take-ons (seven) than any player to feature for either side, per LUFC Data.

The winger also completed 22 of his 26 final third passes against the Lions, created two chances and took three shots – leading to a lot of plaudits going his way for a stellar second half having struggled in the opening 45 minutes.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans noted how Costa has been improving his performances by the game under Bielsa since his arrival last summer…

In other Leeds United news, a rarely seen player has been offered a chance to leave Elland Road and join a Europa League outfit.
