Dean Jones: £26M star ‘keen on idea’ of Leeds

|

According to the latest transfer reports from Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, Leeds United transfer target and Moroccan World Cup star Azzedine Ounahi is believed to be keen on a move to Elland Road.

Earlier this week Vital Leeds discussed the speculation around Ounahi moving to Leeds, and the impact that may have on the team. While it seems there are very few questions around the quality Ounahi has, and how he would be a highly positive signing for Jesse Marsch’s side, Leeds face questioning themselves about the club’s transfer budget following the club-record fee for striker Georginio Rutter.

Despite reports from Il Matino in Italy that Leeds are front-runners to secure the 22 year old midfielder’s signature, the Daily Mail claims that the club is putting a pause on activity around the deal as they take stock of the existing squad and assess the future of head coach Marsch [via GiveMeSport].

Transfer expert Dean Jones told has now weighed in with his latest take on the Angers midfielder’s proposed move to Leeds. Jones told GiveMeSport:

“The player is believed to be keen on the idea of coming to the Premier League, but we’ve got to bear in mind that there’s also interest here from Italy and the team in question is Napoli who are absolutely flying at the top of Serie A. So that is tough competition for a team like Leeds.”

Hearing that Ounahi may be keen on Leeds is a much more pleasing narrative to the ear for Leeds fans than the reports last week stating he was not interested in a switch to the club. Leeds are short in midfield depth since the departure of Mateusz Klich, and with a lot of important football to come, a player of Ounahi’s quality could be the difference maker in avoiding another relegation battle.

We’ll keep you up to date with any news around this one, and as always let us know what you think. Do you feel that another central midfield player should be top of the club’s priorities during this transfer window?
