Leeds among clubs interested in Spurs midfielder

|

According to well-renowned Tottenham Hotspur correspondent Alasdair Gold in his latest piece with Football London, Leeds United are among a number of clubs interested in signing 22 year old Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp on loan before the January transfer window deadline later today (11pm).

Its understood that Skipp is willing to head out on loan until the end of the 2022-23 campaign to try and get some more first team minutes under his belt. The England Under 21 international missed the second half of last season through injury, and has since struggled to get meaningful game time since.

Leeds are said to be considering Skipp as an option on loan, but it is believed they will face competition from fellow Premier League sides Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Fulham.

Spurs boss Antonio Conte is said to be a fan of Skipp, so its unlikely for the midfielder to leave on a permanent basis in the current transfer window – and of course he may not even go out on loan at all.

If Leeds were to make a move for Skipp, its hard to envisage that he would play a whole lot of first team football in the coming months. Tyler Adams and Marc Roca would be ahead of the 22 year old in the pecking order, and now with the signature of star USA midfielder Weston McKennie, its not easy to see where Skipp would fit in other than being a cover option should injury or suspension arise.

With that in mind, Leeds may not be the best destination for him. It would also be difficult to warm to the idea of him being anything other than a cover option, as he would still be a Spurs player.
