‘Very decent’ – These Leeds fans react to potential transfer window boost

|

A handful of United fans have been reacting on Reddit lately, after Leeds Live suggested the Whites could be set for a huge windfall this summer.

Their claim may have been related to business that could develop away from Elland Road over the next few weeks and months, but it would carry a direct impact on matters in West Yorkshire if momentum gathers before this summer’s transfer deadline day.

That’s because it was discussing the 10 per cent sell-on clause we included in the deal that saw academy product Danny Rose leave our clutches for Tottenham Hotspur more than a decade ago, which would be based on any profit Mauricio Pochettino’s side make.

This is not the first time this sell-on clause has been muted in the public domain, as it was mentioned just last month as a recent example, but the reason why it’s doing the rounds again now is that the left-back’s future in North London continues to be shrouded in doubt.

Last month, Rose was thought to be in the eye line of several clubs including Paris Saint-Germain, who had been heavily linked with his services the summer before as well.

Manchester United, Manchester City and Everton have since been touted as potential suitors, but a move to Goodison Park would see us bank far less, as the Toffees were said to be interested in his services as part of a player plus cash deal for Lucas Digne.

If Spurs decide against handing the defender to Marco Silva’s Everton, and turn to the interest from Chelsea or City, Leeds Live feel Tottenham Chairman Daniel Levy would price the England international at £30million, which would hand us £2.9million.

Rose, himself, has regularly spoken about his uncertain future over the last few months too, and told Sky Sports following England’s UEFA Nations League Third-Place Play-Off: “I don’t know what the future holds now.

“I’m looking forward to a break. If I’m back at Tottenham next season, great, if I’m not, great. I’ll just have to wait and see.

“It’s not about regular first-team football. I know my age, and I know how the club’s run in terms of if you get to a certain age they might look to ship you on.

“It has been no secret that my name has been mentioned quite a few times in terms of players moving on, and I’ll be just sitting tight over the next few weeks and just seeing what happens. Either way, I’m prepared for whatever happens.”

Here’s what these Leeds fans have been saying in relation to our 10% sell-on clause for any profit Tottenham make should they sell Rose…
