‘Electric player on his day’ – Some Leeds fans discuss future of £6m ‘petulant manbaby’

Some Leeds supporters have taken to Reddit lately to discuss the future of Samu Saiz, as the Spaniard’s situation remains far from perfect for all parties involved.

The Madrid-born midfielder’s year has been a rotten mix of events, having shocked the club by seeking an exit in the winter at a time when his creativity was helping our promotion efforts massively.

His return home was a disaster, though, as the Real Madrid product would only make ten outings in La Liga with Getafe, for a total of 299 minutes, having been left out of Pepe Bordalas’ squad four times and kept on the bench a further seven.

Even when the domestic season came to an end, Saiz’s actions were still in the spotlight, as he was mentioned as one of several players to be detained by Spanish authorities as part of their investigation into match-fixing, although it was later suggested he was only being investigated and was not arrested.

Just having his name mentioned, though, would likely have hurt his chances of securing some form of a future with United – if he even wanted one – as neither Marcelo Bielsa nor Victor Orta, allegedly, feel the playmaker deserves another bite of the cherry at Elland Road. It was even suggested last month that the £14,323-a-week midfielder is not expected to be on the club’s books by the time the first-team return for pre-season training.

He has also been linked with a permanent return to Spain, despite his torrid loan stint with Getafe, with Europa League Semi-Finalists Valencia thought to be interested in a move, albeit well below our believed £6million valuation.

Instead, the Mestalla natives were tipped to consider the 28-year-old closer to £3million, meaning we would struggle to see any profit on the fee we offered Huesca for his services in 2017.

But, despite the speculated interest and lack of a route back into the United first-team, no move has so far come through for Saiz, and thus these Whites supporters have been discussing his future…
