Kemar Roofe sent the Elland Road stands into moments of euphoria throughout the 2018/19 Championship season, and many supporters are hoping the ecstatic moments continue next term.
However, the £4.5million-rated striker’s contract with United is due to expire next summer, so Leeds may have to cash in on our top ‘scorer if the board cannot agree a new deal with him before the transfer window slams shut.
Negations between the two parties are understood to have stalled somewhat recently, though, as Roofe is pushing for a new deal that would move his wage in line with Patrick Bamford and Kiko Casilla in the £30,000-a-week bracket. However, our failure to secure promotion in Marcelo Bielsa’s first campaign has made that financially difficult, and thus talks have so far not presented the contract many of us are hoping for.
There is a clear presence of supporters wanting the 15-goal ace to sign a new deal, with many sharing their desires directly with the 26-year-old after he shared a post asking fans to suggest what he was thinking about whenever he celebrated one of his goals with an ‘angry face’.
“What do you reckon I was thinking?” Roofe asked his followers. “I seem to celebrate a lot of my goals with an angry face, even though it’s the best feeling.”
A few of the replies when later shared on Twitter took the question somewhat more seriously than others, with some suggesting what he may have been thinking about, while these supporters wanted to focus on his future…
