Report: Rarely-seen Leeds player tipped for permanent exit

|

Leeds United midfielder Connor Leak-Blunt has joined Premier League side Sheffield United on trial, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.

The rarely-seen midfielder is yet to make an appearance for the United first-team despite penning his first professional contract in July, which tied the Barnsley-born youngster to the club until the summer of 2022.

Leak-Blunt joined our academy set-up at the age of eight, and had shared that it felt ‘great’ to put pen to paper on professional terms earlier in the year.

“I’ve been at the club a long time now and to sign my first professional contract is a great feeling,” he told the club’s official website.

“It’s good to progress as a young player coming through the ranks, so I hope I can get off to a good start as a pro.

“If you work hard, your dreams come true and I’m really excited to see what the future holds.”

Leak-Blunt is now on trial at Sheffield United, with whom he played 78 minutes for as they drew 2-2 with Wigan Athletic on Monday.

The teenager was also among the substitutes as the Blades U23s beat Barnsley last week, and could join the Bramall Lane natives – or move elsewhere – on a permanent deal should he impress during his spell on trial.

Sheffield United are currently ninth in the Professional Development League North Division standings having won once in their last five games, and are 11 points behind us after Carlos Corberan’s boys beat bottom-placed Bolton Wanderers 5-1 at the start of the week.
