They say that you should never go back in football.

And although technically he didn’t play for us, I think it’s fair to say that he got as close as you can get to making a move before the deal was pulled a the last minute. So if you want to count this as ‘going back’, I think you’re pretty justified in doing so.

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds United are set to offer as much as £25m in order to bring Dan James to Elland Road from Manchester United. James has found it rather hard to get into the Manchester United squad this season despite being a regular for them in the last campaign, and with the European Championships next summer, it’s possible that he’s looking to move on in order to get some game time under his belt.

Although it should be noted that the deal isn’t as straight forward as it may seem, with there apparently being some issues behind the scenes as to whether or not the club will allow the sale to go through.

Would you like to see us sign Dan James this summer?

Yes

Yes

No

I’m personally a bit up in the air on this one, I’ve previously spoken about the addition of further wingers when it came to Douglas Costa, because you don’t want to disrupt the start that Helder Costa and Jack Harrison have had. However, given James’ versatility, and ability to play centrally, I think he can offer something up a little bit different to the side if we want to tweak formations a bit, perhaps playing him as a number 10 or second striker playing behind Patrick Bamford.

And for £25m, he’d certainly be a lot cheaper that Costa too.

What about you? What do you make of this news? Do you think we should go in for James once more?
