Leeds United will be on the lookout for a winger, if Raphinha leaves the club this transfer window.

They have been heavily linked with PSV Eindhoven star, Cody Gakpo and the talented youngster would be a great signing for Leeds.  At only 23 years of age, he is already a highly rated winger, but he also has massive potential for development in the future.

He style of play is described as a fast, dynamic winger.  Looking to take defenders on at every opportunity, cutting in from the left to work space to get a shot on goal, or to provide a cutting pass.  He has a wealth of experience at club level with over 90 appearances and 27 goals.  He has 32 appearances in European competitions including the Champions League, scoring 12 times.  He has also represented The Netherlands 7 times, scoring twice.

He was named Dutch footballer of the year in 2020/21 after being credited with 25 goal scoring involvements in 27 games and notching 12 goals himself.

He certainly looks to be a worthy replacement for Raphinha should the Brazilian leave Elland Road, and Leeds fans would certainly be excited to see Cody Gakpo play in the Premier League, but even more so, to see how he would link up with the squad and develop into the system.

The winger could be Jesse Marsch’ fourth summer signing after Brendan Aaronson, Rasmus Kristensen and Marc Roca have all been brought in. The team has started to take shape and has now started to resemble more of a Marsch style.

There is still work to do in the transfer window, incoming and outgoing, but with signings like Gakpo, they are certainly making moves to improve the squad and to hopefully have a more successful campaign this time around.

In case you missed it, who is Darko Gyabi?
