Speculation on the Leeds United rumour mill this summer has heavily linked Kalvin Phillips with a potential move to newly promoted Aston Villa and we have now been linked with Stoke City’s Ryan Woods as a potential replacement.
Phillips Speculation At Leeds Seems To Be Getting To The How Much & When Stage Sadly
Over the weekend there was plenty of talk on social media about Phillips potentially penning a new deal at the club as it still doesn’t sound like he’s looking to bail on us, but on Monday some reports had claimed that the opening offer had been rejected by the 23-year-old with suggestions he was holding out for the £30,000 mark when it came to wages.
But fans will have taken hope from the fact that the same source also indicated that he’s perfectly happy at Elland Road and wants to stay, despite all the Villa speculation.
£30,000 seems a popular fee as that’s what Kemar Roofe was said to be holding out for in his own dealings with the club before it was then claimed no offer had yet been made.
Should the worst happen and he does move on though, The Sun’s Alan Nixon has claimed that it’ll only happen if Phillips puts in a transfer request, and just in case we have made some movement for Woods.
LEEDS. Making checks on Ryan Woods at STOKE in case VILLA batter down door for Kalvin Phillips. Phillips only gets out if he asks away.

“LEEDS. Making checks on Ryan Woods at STOKE in case VILLA batter down door for Kalvin Phillips. Phillips only gets out if he asks away.”
Reaction amongst fans was certainly mixed but I’ve always thought he was a tasty little player, but not the same type as Phillips, so I’m really not sure there is anything in this one if it’s supposed to be a like for like replacement.
Ryan Woods was deffo on his level in his last for Brentford, both absolutely amazing players. Woods if he'd have moved to Swansea under a more possession based coach he would have smashed it

Sometimes it just doesn't workout with a club/player but I'm pretty sure there is an extremely good footballer in Ryan Woods. #scfc #lufc

Ryan Woods is a good player. Would like him at Leeds.
He is in no way a replacement for Phillips. #lufc #MOT https://t.co/CneKPR3atb

Ryan woods is no No I'm afraid. ????

From what I’ve seen, a decent player but no Kalvin Phillips.

Wouldn’t necessarily expect Kalvin Phillips to leave #LUFC; but if he were to depart I think they should go for Ben Pearson rather than Ryan Woods. It’s so important they have a ball-winner in there to enforce the press and allow them to incorporate x2 “false #10s” in same XI. https://t.co/RVJvl1pdrl

Semi Ajayi
Neal Maupay or Dwight Gayle
Ryan Woods
… This would make sense if we are actually selling Roofe and Jansson #lufc— Lucas Uren (@LucasUren) July 8, 2019
