Phillips Speculation At Leeds Seems To Be Getting To The How Much & When Stage Sadly

|

One of the big stories this summer on Leeds United’s summer transfer rumour mill has been Aston Villa claimed chase of defensive midfield lynchpin Kalvin Phillips.

Good News For Leeds, Bad News For Aston Villa As Key Player States “Teams Will Be Prepared For Us”

The speculation has been rife since reports surfaced of a rejected £14million bid and with some claims that the promoted Midlands outfit would raise the offer to £20million, it was said we’d slapped a £30million price tag on his head to discourage them.

The speculation hasn’t gone anywhere and with Phillips appearing to follow some of their players on social media over the weekend, that simply kicked claims into a higher gear.

As the speculation has built this week, on Wednesday the Daily Mail had us linked with Croatia Under 21 international skipper and Dinamo Zagreb player Ivan Sunjic as a potential alternative should Phillips now move on and despite him being a completely new name on me, they claimed we’d already slapped in a £3.5million to keep ourselves covered.

It is, of course, the time of year for baseless rumours but sadly the Phillips speculation seems to be growing how the Jack Clarke story did and you don’t have to look far to see some sections of social media claiming ‘they understand’ a deal has already been struck and it’s simply a matter of time before confirmation comes through.

It wouldn’t go down well if it did as many had hoped the Clarke transfer took the pressure off any desire to sell Phillips this window given our own hopes for next season.
