According to Inter Xtra via their Twitter account, Leeds are interested in Argentinian forward Joaquin Correa as a replacement for Raphinha.

The Brazilian winger looks set to complete his much anticipated move to Barcelona, and now Leeds could be turning their attention to the Inter Milan forward as a possible replacement.  Joaquin Correa can play across the front three but prefers to feature as a second striker. The 27 year old has a market value of £20.7m according to Transfermarkt.

Correa has a wealth of experience playing 24 times in the Champions League scoring 5 times, and accumulating 149 games in Italy’s top flight, scoring 31 goals and racking up 16 assists.  He also has 47 appearances in LaLiga scoring 5 times and making 3 assists.  He has represented Argentina on 17 occasions scoring 3 times.

Leeds moved quickly to bring in Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord, who was believed to be Raphina’s replacement.  Now it looks like they are adding even more options to their squad with a move for the Argentina International who has previously played for Sampdoria, Sevilla and Lazio, before making the switch to the Italian giants, initially on loan in August 2021.  He made his Inter debut just a day later in a 3–1 win over Verona in which he came on as a substitute and scored twice.

Correa made his senior International debut in June 2017, with a 1–0 win against Brazil. On 13 June, he scored his first international goal in a 6–0 away friendly win over Singapore. He was also part of the Argentine squad at the 2021 Copa America, making 3 appearances.

Yet again, Leeds being linked with another high profile player is very pleasing to see.  It will be exciting to watch the business The Whites do in the rest of the transfer market and who else they can bring in before the season starts in August, as Jesse Marsch looks to assemble a squad capable of competing in the Premier League.
