Fabrizio Romano: Charles De Ketelaere update

Fabrizio Romano has announced an update regarding AC Milan and Charles De Ketelaere on his Twitter account.

It was briefly rumoured that AC Milan had switched their attention to Luis Suarez in their pursuit of a forward, which seemed to open the door for Leeds to capture Charles De Ketelaere, unchallenged from Cub Brugge.  It has been well documented that De Ketelaere would prefer a switch to the Italian Champions rather than the Premier League with Leeds United.

AC Milan can offer Champions League football, but are believed to not be able to compete with Leeds financial muscle, and are not willing to pay more, or even match the £31m Leeds are rumoured to have offered.  Whether that be because of financial constraints, or simply, the player is not worth that valuation to the Italian giants.

Either way, it looks like the rumours surrounding AC Milan and Luis Suarez are not as first appeared. It looks as though they are not interested in the Uruguay International, and they are indeed still very much interested in a deal for the talented youngster from Club Brugge.

AC Milan’s priority is to complete the signing as soon as possible and negotiations are ongoing between both clubs.

This will come as another blow to Leeds, who had still not given up hope of luring the Belgian forward to Elland Road this summer.  They are in the market to bolster their attacking options and saw the youngster as the perfect striker to compete with Patrick Bamford and Joe Gelhardt upfront for a starting spot in Jesse Marsch’s team.  Leeds have done good business so far, but still need reinforcements in key areas.  A striker seems to be a top priority and now they need options for the left back position with news that Leo Hjelde has taken a knock and Junior Firpo will be out injured for at least 8 weeks.

Who would fans like to see come in? Which positions need to be sorted out first? Let us know in the comments.

It has to be Maxwell Cornet. Hes a left back who can clearly play as a forward and a killer dead ball specialist now we’ve lost both of ours. Bargain at the price.. …get him in!!!!
