“We Didn’t Do Enough” – Honest Bielsa Answer After Massive Leeds Defeat

|

Leeds United made the trip to St Andrew’s Stadium to face off against Garry Monk’s Birmingham City side earlier this afternoon.

Heading to the Midlands, Leeds knew that victory was all important and the only thing that mattered as we continue to try and put the pressure on Norwich City so we can capitalise on top spot should they slip up – they didn’t in today’s early kickoff.

Unfortunately, we slipped up and we only have ourselves to blame as Birmingham took a narrow 1-0 victory over us, and our long-standing clinical issues came to the fore as the closest we got really was Patrick Bamford’s woodwork bound effort.

Hugely frustrating, hugely disappointing and by rights, the title dream is over given the gap now and all our energies have to go into getting second spot back and ensuring we go up via the automatic spot given the lottery the Play-Offs can be.

Speaking to the BBC following the fulltime whistle, manager Marcelo Bielsa said of the performance.

“We could draw the game, we could have lost the game with more goals and we could have won the game too. On balance we didn’t do enough and we didn’t take advantage of the chances we had.”

Short, sweet and to the point. Now dust ourselves down and give it everything.
