Jesse Marsch and his Leeds side have been dealt a huge blow, as winger Crysencio Summerville is expected to miss a month of action following an injury sustained in the Whites’ FA Cup Third Round stalemate away to Cardiff City last Sunday.

Speaking in his press conference ahead of Leeds’ trip to Villa Park in the Premier League tomorrow night, head coach Marsch confirmed fans’ fears that the 21 year old trickster would be out of action for the coming weeks [via Leeds United Official Website].

“Crysencio Summerville is out for a month, probably. The ankle injury and tackle he sustained in the Cardiff match is a little bit of a talking point for me.”

“We’re disappointed Cry will be out. He’s hopeful that it will be quicker than a month but that’s what the prognosis is right now.”

Summerville was caught with a tackle from behind by Cardiff defender Tom Sang, and was forced off later in the game as a result. Former Welsh international and now-BBC pundit Danny Gabbidon described it as a nasty challenge [via LeedsLive].

The Dutch winger is now set to miss a host of important games for Leeds, as they try to climb up the league table and avoid another relegation battle.

Jesse Marsch will have to re-evaluate his attacking options with this latest injury blow. The club and fans will be hoping that Colombian winger Luis Sinisterra will soon be ready to return to the field for Leeds, which would be a big boost to the squad.

Leeds are also expected to complete the signing of the club’s new transfer record-breaker Georginio Rutter from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim, with the 20 year old striker said to be travelling to England in the next 24 hours.
