‘Underwhelming’, ‘Pointless’ – Many Leeds fans react to Phil Hay’s transfer update

Many Leeds fans have been reacting on social media after Yorkshire Evening Post reporter Phil Hay addressed one Whites supporter’s question on the state of United’s current efforts in the transfer market.

Hay mentioned three names in his reply, with those being Manchester City winger Jack Harrison, Wolverhampton Wanderers’ forward Helder Costa and Brighton & Hove Albion defender Ben White, who all emerged as potential targets last week.

Concerns at the time regarding a move for Costa stemmed heavily from the board’s fears that the Premier League side could price us out of a deal, as Wolves are looking to ship the Portuguese star out – likely on loan – after he made less of an impact in the top-flight than he had managed during the Molineux outfit’s Championship winning season.

Those concerns seem to have eased somewhat, as Hay understands a deal is now looking like a real possibility, although it is by no means close to being finalised.

As for Harrison, it appears the Manchester City wide man – who spent the last year with us – will return to Elland Road, following successful initial discussions with the Premier League champions over a second temporary deal.

Marcelo Bielsa’s strengthening on the flanks may not stop there either, as a third wide option will be considered once discussions with Wolves and Man City are concluded.

White, meanwhile, is still a player attracting the interests of Bielsa, but is the furthest from being completed at this stage.

When the Elland Road faithful saw Hay’s update over the weekend, here’s how these supporters reacted…
