Leeds chase double PL raid but Bielsa regular could go, many fans react: ‘Finally a good player’

Leeds have been linked with a double raid on the Premier League by the Yorkshire Evening Post, as Marcelo Bielsa looks to secure promotion with the capture of Helder Costa and Ben White.

The boss is said to be keen on completing the bulk of our summer business before pre-season training commences on June 24, and intends to hold talks with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Costa’s agent, Jorge Mendes, to see if a deal can be struck for the 25-year-old winger.

Wolves are expected to be open to their £13millon former record signing moving on from Molineux this summer, as the ex-Benfica man struggled to establish himself in the top-flight despite being heavily involved in their promotion campaign.

Whites chiefs, however, are fearful of Wolves pricing us out of a move, as Costa has been earning £32,500-a-week since moving to England on loan in 2016, before the Black Country side turned his temporary deal into a permanent arrangement.

While 5 ft 8 Costa only featured for 1,529 minutes in the 2018/19 campaign, the 1-cap Portugal international was involved in eleven goals (five scored, six assisted) following his return from an ankle injury as Wolves secured their top-flight status the season prior.

As for White, the 21-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion product has been on the club’s radar since last summer, when our scouts put his case to Bielsa after a solid season on loan with Newport County.

The boss opted against a move during his first window in charge, though, as he felt he sufficient cover for the position. However, the Seagull’s product – who has made two senior appearances for the Amex natives – has remained a player of interest since, and our Argentine head coach now intends to add the prospect to his ranks.

As well as Costa and White, Bielsa is also keen to retain Jack Harrison for another year, and the YEP understand talks with Manchester City have already commenced.

But while two new signings could be moving to West Yorkshire if deals can be struck, the Elland Road exit door seems to be open for Bielsa regular Pontus Jansson.

The club will, allegedly, cash-in on the Sweden international if a substantial offer comes our way, with sides like Benfica already linked with a potential £14.8million move this summer.

Here’s how some Leeds fans reacted when United’s interest in Costa and White was shared on Twitter…
