“The next decade is yours” – These Leeds United fans back youth international for 2020 breakthrough

|

A few Leeds United fans have been offering their backing to Stuart McKinstry making 2020 his breakthrough year at Elland Road.

McKinstry joined the Whites from boyhood side Motherwell in July 2019 in a deal that could reach Β£400,000, should he progress further in West Yorkshire or be sold in the future.

The 17-year-old turned pro with Motherwell in the autumn of 2018 and earned the attention of numerous English sides with his performances in the Scottish outfit’s youth ranks.

He wasted no time in settling into the action at Thorp Arch after completing his transfer to United, with McKinstry playing a crucial role as our Under 23s thrashed Watford 6-0 in September.

McKinstry was twice tripped in the Hornet’s penalty area for spot-kicks that Eddie Nketiah and Tyler Roberts would convert, as well as offering a constant threat on the wing during his first start under youth boss Carlos Corberan.

The Scotland U18 international is yet to feature on a first-team teamsheet at Leeds, though was named among the substitutes as Motherwell lost 1-0 at home to Kilmarnock in December ’18.

Here are some of the messages shared as fans offered their support to McKinstry breaking out of our youth ranks and into Bielsa’s plans…

In other Leeds United news, the club will look to cash in on three senior players this month.
