“The Game Changed” – Leeds’ Lack Of An Edge Is Costly Once More

|

After some recent stutters and the distraction of the overblown Spygate affair, Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa had got us back on an upward curve with back to back victories in recent weeks and we went into tonight’s Championship clash with Queens Park Rangers at Loftus Road knowing victory would send us back to the top of the second tier table.

With a game in hand on both Norwich City and Sheffield United who started the day ahead of us, three points would restore a one point lead in top spot, and that was ultimately tonight’s aim.

It was the performance we’ve come to expect from Leeds sadly, we dominated the ball yet QPR actually did a little bit more with it than we managed, and they took the lead in the 49th minute and with top spot on offer, unfortunately, it finished 1-0 at the final whistle.

Speaking to the BBC following the end of the game, Bielsa explained.

“We didn’t take advantage of the first half. In that first half we dominated the game. They had a good five minutes at the start of the second half. From that moment the game changed. They could then counter-attack and create danger and for us it took a while to build back into the game and create chances.”
