The focus turns to this weekend and, I’ll tell you what, if we can’t win this fixture against Sunderland we might as well pack up and go home for the rest of the campaign.
It’s been a shocking season anyway but if we can’t beat one of the worst sides around right now we’re really going to need an inquest.
Surely, surely we’re going to find the net – even with Caleb Ekuban starts up front? Yeah, I know what you’re thinking but Kalvin Phillips reckons he fires them in for fun in training. Let’s take a look at the reaction to those comments on Twitter…
"Nine times out of 10 he scores those in training." Kalvin Phillips sticks up for Caleb Ekuban after the striker's bad miss at Fulham on Tuesday:https://t.co/XQXMD3Kjcu

Thatโs the difference in training and the match itself, you get nowt for scoring in training!

Alioski had no problem hitting one round the keeper despite being ruled out. Ekuban is not the answer next season.

Maybe Phillips should concentrate on his own game..as heโs been appalling in Midfield this season along with OโKane #lufc

Practice makes perfect, I would venture to suggest. But I'm sure everyone knows that already.

Ay but heโs training against Wiedwald
— Chris (@Chris_Wriiight) April 5, 2018
Well 9 times out of 10 he has missed them in games that matter.

Against Wiedwald he probably does ๐

The Verdict
Ekuban is a likeable enough lad and he seems to try and have a smile on his face but, honestly, I don’t think he is good enough for our club.
He misses chance after chance and, more often than not, they are opportunities most strikers at this level would score with ease.
I think he’ll go in the summer.
