Same Old Leeds, Just A Different Day Claims Bielsa Following Bolton – “Missed Many Goals”

|

Leeds United played hosts to Bolton Wanderers for today’s Championship action at Elland Road and although manager Marcelo Bielsa had to rejig his starting line up following the injury to Kemar Roofe, we did have Patrick Bamford to lead the line again.

Bamford made it count as well as he opened the scoring from the penalty spot 16 minutes into the game, but the visitors did find themselves back on level terms in minute 22.

With the scores tied at the halftime break, Ezgjan Alioski restored our advantage just ahead of the 70 minute mark, and the squad held on to take all three points in a 2-1 victory.

The result lifted us back into second spot in the second tier table and the automatic promotion places, so we have to be happy with that.

Speaking to the BBC following the fulltime whistle, our Argentine gaffer said of the performance.

“It was a game very similar to other games we’ve played so far. We had chances to score and we didn’t score goals and we suffered on set pieces, I think this was the axis of the game. It was a team that fought a lot, we had many chances to score and we missed many goals and dangerous actions created by the opponent were on set pieces especially.”
