Leeds United are considering a summer move for Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

The Whites are reportedly looking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of their return to the Premier League next season, and it seems Batshuayi has emerged as a candidate to fill that role.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are now considering the possibility of a move for Batshuayi, after being informed that Chelsea are willing to let the Frenchman leave for a reduced price this summer.

It is thought that the Blues are willing to let Batshuayi leave for around £25million this summer, around half of the £50million they had previously demanded for him, with the striker’s contract at Stamford Bridge set to expire at the end of next season.

Having joined Chelsea from Marseille – where he played under now-Leeds manager Marcelo Bielsa during the 2014/15 season – in the summer of 2016, Batshuayi has gone on to score 25 goals in 77 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, while also spending time out on loan with Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Crystal Palace.

Would Batshuayi be a good signing for Leeds?

Batshuayi has also scored 16 goals in 29 appearances at senior international level for Belgium, which further suggests this could be a decent signing for Leeds.

The striker’s top-flight pedigree and experience is certainly something that could benefit Leeds next season, particularly given their apparent need for a goalscorer ahead of their return to English football’s top-flight.

Indeed, the fact he has previously worked with Bielsa could also help here, both in terms of convincing him to make the move to Elland Road, and knowing how to get the best out of Batshuayi once he arrives in Yorkshire.

However, even at that reduced valuation, this would still be an expensive deal for Leeds to pull off, meaning it will not be without its risk, although you feel Bielsa will not pursue any such transfer unless he is absolutely certain it will work in the club’s favour.
