Leeds are interested in signing Chelsea midfielder Ross Barkley this summer, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

Barkley previously spent a spell on loan at Leeds as a 19-year-old back in the 2012/13 season season, and it now seems as though a return to Elland Road could be on the cards this summer.

According to the latest reports, Leeds are interested in signing Barkley this summer, as the club look for alternatives options to Udinese midfielder Rodrigo De Paul, having reportedly been unable to agree fee for the Argentine with the Serie A club.

It is thought that Chelsea are willing to get Barkley off their books this summer as they look to reduce their wage budget, and the prospect of a loan to Leeds has also been mooted.

Chelsea reportedly value Barkley at £30million, and there are currently three years remaining on his contract at Stamford Bride.

Since joining the London club from Everton in 2018 January transfer window, Barkley has made 86 appearances in all competitions for the Blues, scoring 11 goals in that time.

While perhaps not quite as high-profile as someone such as De Paul, Barkley could still be a solid signing for a club such as Leeds.

The England international has plenty of Premier League experience, and will no doubt be determined to prove a point if he is moved out on loan by Chelsea, which would benefit Leeds if they were to be his next destination.

You do however feel that, given Chelsea’s lofty valuation of the midfielder, a loan move for Barkley may be better for Leeds from a financial perspective, particularly with how much they have already spent this summer in spite of the current global situation.
