Leeds United are plotting a late summer transfer window bid for Rangers winger Ryan Kent, a report from Football Insider has claimed.

The Championship title winners reportedly made a bid worth £10million plus add-ons for the former Liverpool man earlier this summer, and it seems they are done yet in their pursuit of the 23-year-old.

According to this latest update, Leeds are planning to make an improved bid for Kent before the window closes, as they continue to work towards strengthening their attacking options following their return to the Premier League.

However, it is thought that despite there intentions to make a fresh bid for Kent, Leeds will not be making an offer that meets the £20million release clause in the winger’s contract with Rangers, which has three years left to run.

Having initially joined Rangers on loan from Liverpool in the summer of 2018, Kent made his move to Ibrox permanent 12 months later, and has scored a total of 18 goals in 84 appearances in all competitions for the Scottish giants.

With Leeds so far yet to make a breakthrough in their recruitment of an attacking midfielder, it does make sense for them to go back to their interest in Kent before the window closes.

The winger could possess the ability to make the sort of impact on Marcelo Bielsa’s side as they look to compete this season, an you do feel it is worth them taking a chance on him if they are unable to get another option through the door.

But with Rangers seemingly determined to keep hold of Kent this summer, you still feel Leeds may have to meet that release clause if they are to bring him to Elland Road, even if that is not what they were planning to do.
