Report: Leeds discover what they must pay to sign 23-y/o attacker this summer

|

Leeds United have been told it will cost them £25million to sign attacker Emi Buendia from Norwich City, a report from the Daily Mail has claimed.

Despite Norwich’s relegation after just one year in English football’s top-flight this season, Buendia did win plenty of praise for his individual performances, with the Argentine providing eight assists and scoring once across the course of the campaign.

Now it seems as though those performances have attracted plenty of attention from elsewhere, with the latest reports claiming that Leeds have enquired about the 23-year-old’s availability.

It seems however, that Buendia will not come cheap, with Norwich reportedly telling the Whites that it will cost them £25million to sign the Argentine this summer.

As things stand, there are four years remaining on Buendia’s contract with Norwich, securing his future at the club until the end of the 2023/24 season, and putting the club in a strong position to negotiate any offers that come in for him.

Should Leeds pay £25million for Buendia?

You have to question whether this is something worth pursuing for Leeds now.

Buendia has been impressive for Norwich this season, and you do feel as though Leeds need to add an extra creative spark to their squad if they are to be competitive next season.

However, £25million does seem to be a huge amount for a player whose side have been relegated after just a single season at top-flight level.

But with Buendia’s contract situation meaning Norwich only need to discuss offers if they want to, it is going to be hard for Leeds to get that price down, and that could cause problems when it comes to strengthening others areas of their side, something they will have to do this summer.
