Andrea Radrizzani has spoken to Pontus Jansson recently with the defender out in Russia with Sweden at the World Cup.

The centre-half did not have the best of times at the club last season with him coming in for criticism along with a number of his team-mates.

Certainly, he didn’t help himself with some vocal moments of his own but it looks as though he’s in contact with Radz and that can only be a good thing.

As quoted by Swedish outlet Fotbollskanalen, he said:

“He praised me and was proud of my efforts yesterday.

“That I did good and showed myself. He said I was the only one from Leeds who is in the World Cup and he was proud and happy about it.”

The Verdict

I’m all for this.

Jansson did himself no favours last season but he is still a good player and if we can get him back on form I’m sure we’ll be up the right end of the table.

We’ve shown him ambition and Radrizzani is clearly eager to keep him sweet so I don’t envisage him pushing for a move away despite some of the rumours that have floated around.
