Leeds United striker Patrick Bamford was our big money signing over the summer, coming in from Middlesbrough for a reported £7million and it’s not unfair to say his first year at Elland Road has seen ups and downs.
The 25-year-old former Chelsea trainee was heavily hit with injury in the 2018/19 campaign but he did still make 18 starting appearances across the season with a further seven showings from the bench. In those games, he chipped in with ten goals and two assists, and just as our year ended with disappointment after the Play-Off Semi-Final defeat to Derby County, he didn’t have great few final weeks either and he faced some stinging criticism from some sections of the crowd as frustrations rose and tempers won out.
With the curtain closed on the year, Bamford took to social media last week to reflect on the 2018/19 campaign, and although reactions were mixed to his message, rightly there was plenty of support.
You have all made us proud fella great season with a sad ending but we will be stronger for it. Hopefully you can stay fit next season and lead us to promotion and prove some of those doubters wrong. Enjoy the rest as the hard work will start again soon ???????????????????? MOT

I remember people were treating Chris Wood the same in his first season, then in his 2nd he blew the league away. Bamford has had a better first season than Wood, so hopefully he’ll have a better 2nd as well. #MOT

i'm sorry for slagging you off after the game Patrick, it was a mix of anger and heart break, I still believe that you can hit top form next season, have a good rest
