With Leeds United hoping to continue planning for the 2019/20 Championship campaign under the charge of manager Marcelo Bielsa, there was a surprising link on the transfer rumour mill this week and there was a claim that we were interested in bringing Fabian Delph back home from Manchester City.

The report originates in the Sun so usual caveats apply obviously, but with the 29-year-old falling down the pecking order at the Etihad Stadium under Pep Guardiola, it’s certainly a novel link to suggest the England international could return home.

With the claim being City would accept and do a deal with someone at £15million I can’t for the life of me think that we’d spend that on a single player next season as we have a couple of positions to fill, and we would undoubtedly be up against a number of Premier League sides.

Whilst the report says a return is likely too expensive, with only a year left on his deal there will be those in the fanbase that are hoping a deal can’t be struck and we can maybe go in with a more sensible offer next January.

There was certainly a mixed reaction in the fanbase.
