There’s a touch of disappointment in the air at the moment and it stems from the realisation that Leeds United will not be getting their hands on a hugely talented teenager, on loan.

The talented youngster is Phil Foden who is currently on the books of Manchester City.

It had been hoped that with Marcelo Bielsa and Pep Guardiola having a more than mutual respect for each other, Guardiola could perhaps be persuaded to let the youngster come to Elland Road, on loan.

But, according to the media source, the Manchester Evening News, Guardiola has insisted that his young midfielder will remain at the Etihad Stadium where his development will continue.

Last season, the 18-year-old did, in fact, play a sufficient number of games to claim a Premier League winners medal with Manchester City.

Guardiola obviously feels that Foden will get game time this coming season and that it wouldn’t be the done thing to send the player down into the Championship to further learn his trade.

It was, perhaps, a tall order expecting Guardiola to loan us one of the brightest prospects in English football but I guess there was no harm in asking.

I wonder who we’ll target next?

Any suggestions, in our comments facility, would be most welcome.
