It has been reported Newcastle United are struggling to agree a deal with Leeds United for Jack Harrison.

As reported by CaughtOffside and according to TalkSport journalist Alex Crook.  He claimed Eddie Howe’s Newcastle and Leeds remain ‘some way apart in their valuations’.

Harrison has been a big part of the Leeds squad since Marcelo Bielsa brought him in from Manchester City, initially on loan for three consecutive seasons and then made the switch permanent in the 2021/22 season for a fee of £11m.

Newcastle are rumoured to have acted first but see Leeds valuation, thought to be around £30m as too much money for the 25 year old.  Harrison is normally the preferred choice for Leeds on the left side, and with the impending departure of right winger Raphinha, it is unlikely they will let Harrison leave, especially on the cheap.

Harrison is still under contract until 2024 and The Whites are under no pressure to sell the talented winger.  He is an integral part of the Leeds side and has appeared over 150 times for the Yorkshire club scoring 26 goals and numerous assists.  Harrison is a very good player, quick, mobile and his first touch is second to none.  He loves to take people on and he also chips in with goals.

“There’s some interest in Harrison. I know Newcastle have enquired, but at the moment, the price tag is too hefty,” Crook told GiveMeSport.

It is clear with his price tag that Leeds are very keen to keep him at Elland Road and Jesse Marsch has him very much in his plans for the new season.  Although his 4-2-2-2 system doesn’t rely on wingers too much, his pace and high pressing abilities are very much needed going forward.

Is £30m too high? Should Leeds keep Harrison for the new season?
