Announced by Alfonso Leocádio via his Twitter account, @TuttoMercatoWeb have reported that ‘Newcastle have tabled an offer of £24m to sign Jack Harrison’ from Leeds United.

It has been rumoured that Newcastle were very interested in signing the talented winger, and Harrison himself did little to slow the story down with his comments in a recent interview, when asked if he would remain at Leeds he replied “We’ll see, we’ll see what happens, but no, it’s good so far.”

Coach Jesse Marsch had said “Jack unintentionally brought attention to the whole situation because, for sure, his intention is to be with us.” He then added ” There’s always interest in our players because we have quality players. We’re in the top league in the world, but we feel strongly the guys we have within our group right now can help us be really successful and Jack is certainly one of those”

Marsch added, “Jack really didn’t mean to bring any attention to it and I’m sure he’ll have his chance to give his side of things, but I know he’s happy here. I know he loves playing for the club and he and I have a great relationship, and he knows how important I think he is to what we’re doing here in the future.”

Leeds really need to keep hold of Harrison, especially so close to the start of the season. He is clearly a big part of Jesse Marsch’s plans and to lose him now when preparations are underway for the start of the campaign would be a disaster. His goal and assist output is second to none and he also has a fantastic fitness and injury record. He has been an ever present throughout the Bielsa era and now with Marsch.

Leeds have options on the wing with Luis Sinisterra, Dan James, Crysencio Summerville and Rodrigo all playing there in the past, but losing Raphinha to Barcelona and Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City was a big blow to The Whites. To lose Jack Harrison as well in one window would be nothing short of catastrophic.

How important is Harrison to Leeds? Let us know in the comments.
