As the season draws ever closer, could Leeds United step up their search for a left back with a look at experienced Ajax defender Nico Tagliafico?

With the news that Junior Firpo will miss around 8 weeks of action, and youngster Leif Davis as the only recognised left back at the club, surely The Whites must be looking into cover for that position? One name that has resurfaced is Tagliafico, after rumours of a reported interest from the Yorkshire club seemingly went away, has now come back into the frame once again.

The 29 year old, plying his trade in the Eredivisie with Ajax has been reportedly close to a deal that will see him sign for Lyon, yet numerous reports state he has not agreed anything yet, and would be open to go and play in La Liga or the Premier League.  Brighton and Leeds have been linked with the Argentina International.

Tagliafico is described as having lung busting stamina, excellent technique and continuous enterprise. He has been compared to the Inter Milan and Argentina International, Javier Zanetti. He is very experienced having played over 100 games and scoring 15 goals for Ajax, 85 appearances and 2 goals for Independiente and 40 caps for Argentina. According to Transfermarkt his valuation is £9.9m, so with a reported transfer fee of around £3m, he could be a very good, and affordable addition to Jesse Marsch’s squad.

Leeds desperately need to bring in a left back, a striker and an experienced, back up goal keeper to keep Meslier on his toes. It would also aid his development with someone there to help him and to give him guidance.

Would Leeds fans like to see Tagliafico brought in? Let us know in the comments.
