Illness has swept through the Leeds United camp as Jermaine Beckford becomes the second member of the first team squad to suffer.

The Leeds United hotshot was sent home on Tuesday before the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat at the hands of League Two side Bury. Assistant manager Dave Bassett has admitted that the club currently has an illness problem at Thorp Arch.

Beckford joined defender Frazer Richardson, who was sent home before The Whites’ 0-0 draw with Hereford United after feeling unwell. Speaking to leedsunited.com Bassett said: ‘With Frazer he was put straight in the train home before the Hereford game,’

‘Then young Beckford started to feel the effects on Tuesday so we whipped him away from the training ground because we don’t want it around the place.

‘Fingers crossed no one else goes down with it over the next couple days.’
