Match Stats: Blackburn v Leeds – Opportunity Missed For Bielsa’s Boys

|

Today’s early Championship kickoff at Ewood Park between Blackburn Rovers and Leeds United may have been a game for the neutrals.

Both sides fashioned almost 40 chances across the 90 minutes in total, with each getting six apiece on target.

With manager Marcelo Bielsa welcoming back a number of our injured players for the game, including the likes of Gaetano Berardi, Kemar Roofe and Pablo Hernandez – the latter started off the bench – hopes were high that we’d get back to winning ways.

Sadly, the hosts started brightly and opened the scoring after two minutes and although Mats Klich had us back on level terms in first-half stoppage time, Blackburn added the second to take all three points on the day and the main takeaway again is despite dominating possession Leeds need to be more clinical.

Given the overall play, it’s a frustrating result, but given the early season form of Roofe in particular, getting that 70-minute block under his belt would’ve done wonders for his sharpness, so there’s plenty of reasons to be positive moving forward.
