Leeds United coach Jesse Marsch has outlined new signing Maximilian Wober’s key qualities and has hinted the 24-year-old could make his debut in the FA Cup on Sunday.

As per LeedsLive, the latest arrival from Red Bull Salzburg could be in line to make his debut for the Whites in the FA Cup clash at Cardiff City on Sunday. Max Wober signed for the Yorkshire outfit this week in a deal believed to be around £12m and the defender was introduced to the home crowd before the 2-2 draw with West Ham on Wednesday night. According to Marsch, he looks ready to slot straight into the starting eleven, with the coach outlining Wober’s key attributes.

Marsch said, “Well, the one thing I know about Max is he’s a leader. He is a very intelligent player and he’s gifted. In that sense, he can play multiple positions.”

“As a starting point, that’s how we will be thinking about him, how we can use him at left-back or how we use Pascal (Struijk) a little bit at left-back or centre-back. He can play left centre-back and he can play as a six.”

“I think just getting him into the group and getting him up to speed (is the current priority). He has the potential to play on Sunday. He looks pretty fit. He knows the principles of how we want to play. So I’m hopeful in a lot of ways that he can help us perform at our best.”

If Wober is to feature this weekend it will be interesting to see how Marsch utilises the versatile defender. If he is used as a centre-back that will mean either Robin Koch or club captain Liam Cooper will have to miss out. If the new man is used as a Left-back, it is still unclear if Pascal Struijk will move back into his natural central position or if the Dutchman will be set to miss out on the fixture. Either way, one of the regular first-team players to feature in recent weeks will have to be rested or settle for a place on the bench.

Cardiff City v Leeds United will be played on Sunday the 8th of January with a 2 pm Kick-off.
