Italy manager Roberto Mancini recently spoke about youngster Wilfried Gnonto’s usage at Leeds United.

Since signing from FC Zürich last month, Gnonto hasn’t made a single appearance for the first-team, instead playing for the under-21s in the PL2.

However, his national team manager, who has given him 6 caps for the Azzurri, isn’t worried:

“Gnonto is a young kid, and he’s only just arrived. So maybe he will need time to settle in.”

Leeds have plenty of good young players in the attacking roles this season, with Sonny Perkins and Mateo Joseph amongst the best players in their division currently, as well as Joe Gelhardt whose quality shone in the Premier League last season.

On the 18-year-old, Jesse Marsch recently said:

“I can say he has pleasantly surprised all of us in almost every way.

“You can see, even in that [welcome] video, his humbleness and his maturity and then, on the pitch and training, he’s been fantastic.

“He was very good in the 21s match against Southampton. He will be in the squad this weekend and we think he can play a big role for us now.”
