Leeds United defender Charlie Taylor is expected to resume training at the start of next week.

The clubs Player of the Year last season, hasn`t featured for Leeds since suffering an Achilles injury in the game with Brentford in December.

The injury ended a run of playing in every minute for Leeds in their previous 60 games. That run started after Taylor quickly overcame a bout of glandular fever. Taylor missed just seven games when many expected the defender to miss the remainder of the season and Monk is expecting Taylor to make another quick return now he is back to full fitness.

“Charlie Taylor looks very likely to train at the start of next week which is good for him and great for the group, with an important run of games coming up, between now and the end of the season,” Monk told the Leeds official website .

“Charlie is a very naturally fit lad, I don`t think it will take him too much to get back up to speed, but obviously we will assess him.”

Taylor could face a fight for his place in the side. Usual right back Gaetano Berardi has started every championship game at left back since Taylor`s injury and he has shown his versatility once again with a string on consistent performances.

Taylor`s return will see Leeds have a fully fit squad for the crucial championship run in as they look to maintain their push for promotion.
