It was once again a mixed night for Leeds United players on international duty.

Darren O`Dea was an unused substitute and Andy Keogh wasn`t part of the eighteen-man squad named for Republic of Ireland, in their crucial qualifier with Armenia.

In an eventful game, Republic of Ireland qualified for the play offs for the European 2012 finals with a 2-1 win. Both sides finished the game with ten men after having a player sent off each.

The two legged play off will take place during November.

Both Mikael Forssell and Mika Vayrynen started for Finland in Hungary.

Vayrynen completed the 90 minutes whilst Forssell was replaced after 66 minutes in the 0-0 draw.

Robert Snodgrass, who was forced to pull out of the Scotland squad last week through injury will not have the opportunity to represent them in next years finals after they failed to reach the play offs following their defeat in Spain.

Aidy White played the full 90 minutes for the Republic of Ireland under 21 team as they came from behind to beat Liechtenstein 4-1 in Eschen.

The result leaves them in third place in their group behind Turkey and Italy.

Glynn Snodin finished his role as Northern Ireland number two to Nigel Worthington after their defeat in Italy.

Former Leeds defender Worthington, resigned from the post as Northern Ireland boss on Monday, with Snodin also leaving.

After four years in the job together, they bowed out with a 3-0 defeat in Italy.

It was a better night for another former Leeds player now in international management.

Gary Speed saw his Wales side make it three wins in a row with a 1-0 win in Bulgaria.
