Leeds United played their last of their pre season games this afternoon at Burnley without the services of top stars Jermaine Beckford and Fabian Delph.

Also missing was striker Luciano Becchio who along with Delph picked up injuries in training this week.

More confusing was the omission of Jermaine Beckford who was in the original starting line up but was replaced at the last minute by Enoch Showunmi.

Casper Ankergren started between the sticks in place of inform Shane Higgs has the two continue to battle for the no 1 spot against Exeter next weekend.

Leeds enjoyed the better of the first half against their Premiership opponents, Grella, Showunmi and Howson all had good chances before Bradley Johnson went closest when his free kick hit the post.

Leeds eventually made the breakthrough in the 37th minute when Mike Grella got his first senior goal in a Leeds shirt after a bad mistake by former Leeds defender Steve Caldwell.

The Whites went in at half time with a thoroughly deserved lead even without some of their star players.

Leeds made one change at half time, Lubo Michalik replacing Rui Marques in defence.

Leeds continued to enjoy the better of the game and Showunmi and Crowe could have extended the lead.

Leeds made a number of substitutions just past the hour and one of them Andy Robinson doubled the lead when he hammered his effort past the Burnley keeper.

Burnley were soon back in it when David Edgar scored from close range.

Leeds did however see out the remainder of the game and finished the pre season undefeated finishing with three impressive performances against Blackburn Rovers, Newcastle United and Burnley.

Now the serious stuff of League One starts next Saturday at Elland Road against Exeter City
