Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has been a supporter of loan players since his arrival at Elland Road but is looking for long term loans rather than stop gaps this season.
Since his arrival at Elland Road, Grayson has been a regular user in the loan market with eight players brought into the club last season.
Leeds only brought in one player on a season long loan with midfielder Sanchez Watt joining for the season from Arsenal.
Grayson is now looking to continue with this option. Speaking in the Yorkshire Evening Post, Grayson said, “If we`re going to go with the loan scenario then I`d want the loans to be for the whole season. Then you know that you`ve got the player for that length of time.
“But the problem is that most clubs are reluctant to let fringe players out too early, unless they`re really not figuring at all in pre-season.”
Watt managed twenty-six appearances with the majority coming off the substitute`s bench.
The loan window didn`t prove too successful last season for Leeds.
George McCartney joined in September and remained for the rest of the season.
He made thirty-two appearances but got worse as the season wore on and was finally dropped on the final day of the season after coming in for some criticism from chairman Ken Bates.
Eric Lichaj from Aston Villa was probably the pick of the players to come in on loan.
He joined in February for the remainder of the season, made sixteen appearances, and was a consistent performer.
Of the rest, Barry Bannan (also Villa), Jake Livermore and Ben Alnwick (Tottenham Hotspur), Jason Brown (Blackburn Rovers) and David Gonzalez (Manchester City) made little or no impression.
