Leeds United boss Simon Grayson has denied having any conversation with Sheffield United involving a swap deal involving Nick Montgomery and Billy Paynter.

Media reports suggested that new Sheffield United boss Danny Wilson was keen to take Paynter to Bramall Lane.

The pair worked together at Swindon Town where Paynter scored 29 goals during the 20010/11 season. A season that saw them eventually beaten in the League One play off final.

Leeds have been linked with a move for the Leeds born midfielder Nick Montgomery since last summer but Grayson denies talking to them this summer.

Speaking in the Bradford Telegraph and Argus, Grayson said, “We looked at Montgomery a couple of times last year but he is a Sheffield United player. I have had no conversations with them about Billy Paynter going there.”

Paynter will be hoping to enjoy an injury free pre season after picking up a shin injury during Leeds tour of Slovakia last summer.

The striker netted just once in twenty-one appearances last season after missing the opening few months due to the injury.
