Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen says he is not concerned following the defeat to Reading as Leeds lost for a third straight game and he felt the side deserved to take all three points.

Leeds lost to a late Modou Barrow goal in a game of few opportunities and Leeds lacklustre performance was summed up in injury time when Pablo Hernandez wasted a great opportunity to earn Leeds a point from the penalty spot but his weak penalty was easy for Vito Mannone in the Reading goal.

Leeds struggled to create clear-cut chances and they had to wait until the final fifteen minutes of the game to work Mannone in the Reading goal as Mannone got down well to deny Samu Saiz and then Pontus Jansson wasted a great opportunity but he skied his effort over the crossbar.

Reading made Leeds pay for the missed opportunity when Barrow, who had a poor spell on loan at Leeds in the second half of last season, slid the ball home.

Christiansen spoke following the defeat, claiming Leeds should have taken all three points and he is not concerned about the current form.

‘We knew it would be a difficult game after coming in from two defeats and as you saw in the first half. The first 20-25 minutes, we were too slow with our build-up. We were much better in the second half,” Christiansen told BBC Radio Leeds.

‘I believed the team deserved much better than the result we took today.

“I think we deserved to win.

‘It hurts but we have to continue.

‘We’ve got to face the situation and come back stronger. There are a lot of things to improve but I am not concerned.’

Despite the defeat Leeds still occupy a play-off place but they now face a tricky trip to Bristol City next Saturday as they look to avoid a fourth straight defeat for the first time since April 2015.
