Leeds United continued their poor form with a disappointing 1-0 home defeat against Reading.

Former loan winger Modou Barrow came back to haunt Leeds as he scored the only goal of the game with just six minutes remaining.

A poor Leeds performance was compounded in injury time when Pablo Hernandez saw his weak penalty easily saved by Vito Mannone.

Leeds returned from the international break looking to get their promotion push back on track after losing twice in the week before the break.

Leeds rarely threatened until the final 15 minutes of the game with striker Pierre-Michel Lasogga being left isolated in attack.

Reading had the better chances in the first half with Böðvarsson heading just wide and he then shot straight at Andy Lonergan.

Lonergan did well again to deny Sone Aluko with a low save.

Lasogga had Leeds only effort on target in the first half but his weak header was easy for Mannone.

Barrow came off the bench for Reading and he quickly forced Lonergan into another good save.

Leeds then had two good chances to break the deadlock. Samu Saiz forced Mannone into a good save with a header and then Pontus Jansson ballooned over from close range after being set up by Hernandez.

Reading broke the deadlock with six minutes remaining when Barrow slid the ball under Lonergan after a through ball from Joey van den Berg.

Leeds then wasted a great opportunity to earn a point in injury time. Samu Saiz was fouled in the area and referee Jeremy Simpson had no hesitation in pointing to the spot. Hernandez stepped up for Leeds but his weak effort was easily saved Mannone.

The poor effort summed up the Leeds performance.
