Leeds United head coach Thomas Christiansen was happy with the response from his team as they got back to winning ways in the Championship with a 3-2 win against Ipswich Town.

Leeds suffered their first Championship defeat of the season at Millwall last Saturday and they faced a tough test on Saturday against an Ipswich side that went into the game two points behind Leeds but with a game in hand.

In a hard-fought encounter, Leeds edged past Ipswich to retain their place at the top of the Championship and Christiansen was happy with the response from his players.

‘It was an intense game that had everything. We were in front and immediately after the equaliser we managed to score,” Christiansen told the BBC Website.

‘Then in the second half we should keep the result, trying to control the game a little better, but we suffered at the end.

‘Ipswich were only two points away from us, so we knew it was a six-point game. The response was good and the result was better.’

Goals from Pierre-Michel Lasogga, Kalvin Phillips and an own goal from Bartosz Bialkowski ensured Leeds stayed top of the Championship as second placed Cardiff City and third placed Wolverhampton Wanderers also won.

Leeds now face two tough away games in the next week at Cardiff and Sheffield Wednesday, two games that will test Leeds promotion credentials this season.
