Leeds United’s long-term rumour, former Liverpool and England U20 International, Ryan Kent will be available as a free agent on July 1st.

The 25-year-old Rangers forward has been linked with a potential move to Leeds United in the majority of the transfer windows in the past few years, and it looks like it will be another upcoming window with links after the player’s contract runs out in the summer.

It remains to be seen whether he will be offered a new contract at The Gers, or indeed if he agrees to stay on at the club. Mounting speculation from Scottish media in recent years has linked the tricky winger to a move to Elland Road after it was first thought Marcelo Bielsa was a fan of Kent. However, nothing concrete has been offered or even suggested to make a deal look likely.

Under Bielsa, Leeds tried to use width to their maximum potential and were always rumoured to be looking at wingers. With the likes of Jack Harrison, Raphinha, and Dan James all signed under Bielsa’s tenure, it was clear to see the Argentine always liked fast, tricky wingers. Jesse Marsch looks to play with more emphasis on compact play through the middle, so adding even more wide players looks unlikely. The American is believed to be a big fan of PSV’s Cody Gakpo, and nearly completed a deal for the forward in the summer, to add to the capture of Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord.

Kent is going to be one of those players that will always be linked to clubs, and more often than not, he will be linked to a move to Yorkshire. It will be interesting to see if he is again linked to Leeds in January.
