It might sound a bit weird to say that I don’t want the club to sign such a talented player, but that’s the position I’m finding myself in right now with this latest report.

According to a report from 90min, Leeds United are one of a number of teams that are contemplating making a move for Hull City winger Jarrod Bowen.

They face some stiff competition though, as they reportedly have to face having to battle it out with Premier League sides Burnley, Bournemouth, Sheffield United, Newcastle United and Brighton and Hove Albion, as well as fellow Championship side West Bromwich Albion.

It’s obvious that Bowen is a special talent, racking up 15 goals and 3 assists so far this season in the Championship, and scoring more than 50 in his two and a half seasons in the Championship, but I think that this is someone that Leeds United need to steer clear from, purely because I think he is out of the club’s price range and also, we seem to be pretty stocked with wingers as it stands.

With a reported cost of £20m in the last January transfer window, if you compare that to the reported £10m that Phil Hay believes it would cost to bring in someone like Jack Harrison, something I wrote about earlier today, I think it would be much better to stick with that, providing the finances agree with it, than bringing in Bowen and allowing time for him to adjust to the system.

And having already committed to bringing in Helder Costa next summer, that is one of the spots on the wing already taken up, making it a straight fight between the two of them to take that other spot.

Who would you prefer?

Harrison

It almost comes in the area of ‘better the devil you know’ when it comes to Harrison. Not only would he be easier to manage, but it would also be cheaper to bring him on board.
