Leeds Wobble At The Worst Possible Time As Automatic Promotion Hopes Go Up In Flames – Match Stats

|

The second of our Easter clashes today saw Leeds United head to Griffin Park to face off against Brentford in the late evening Championship fixture.

With Sheffield United taking victory in their game earlier in the day against Hull City, manager Marcelo Bielsa simply had to be celebrating a win come fulltime if our automatic promotion hopes were to remain alive.

As soon as the referee waved away a clear cut penalty for us, it felt like it was going to be another of those days and sadly for us, that’s exactly what it became as the hosts scored in the 45th minute to hand themselves the advantage and just after the hour mark they had the second.

Our Achilles heel was again making the chances we had count as both sides had three efforts on target, but we had 18 chances overall and just couldn’t take them.

Fans will have their own thoughts on automatic hopes after that one, but it’ll take a massive slip by Sheffield United to blow this now and bring us back into the chase.
