Leeds United fans were left rather excited after Ian Poveda put in a thrilling display during their win over Derby County at Pride Park.
Per SofaScore, the Englishman recorded two key passes, two successful dribbles, and made 14 passes at an accuracy rate of 88%. It was certainly a very nice afternoon all round.
It was Poveda’s first start of the season having joined the Yorkshire giants back during the January transfer window from Manchester City and he clearly impressed the United faithful.
Are you excited to see more of Ian Poveda next season?
Yes, future star!
Not just yet...
He was involved in Leeds’ equalising strike, finding Pablo Hernandez with a ball into the box whilst Jamie Shalketon got their second before the Rams netted an own goal to make it 3-1.
One supporter compared him to David Silva whilst another claimed that he could be Pablo Hernandez’s long-term replacement – the 35-year-old still does have a bit in him after all.
Other words used to describe the young 20-year-old winger included “sharp,” “immense,” and “amazing”. There was even a shout for Marcelo Bielsa to turn him into a “world-beater” next season.
Here’s the rest of the reaction…
I very much like the look of Poveda on the ball
I really cannot wait to see how he will progress even further under Bielsa #lufc— nigel stanley (@nigelLUFC) July 19, 2020
Personally think Tyler has been on it, especially since the restart. Poveda looking sharp and switched on! 🔥 #LUFC #MOT

I know this is a dead rubber with a weakened side but I must confess there are many in the playing 11 today are nowhere near premier league quality…
Poveda however has all the ingredients needed & reminds me very much of David Silva…#Lufc— Ayub Patel (@AyubPatel123) July 19, 2020
Bielsa’s going to turn Poveda into something lethal. #lufc

He's taking the opportunity amazing. I think the lads are playing really well. The only thing we lacking is a goal cos we deserve to be winning
